Tānisi! My name is Alana Starr and I am the artisan behind Acahkos Designs. Acahkos is a Plains Cree word that translates into the word star or little star and represents my connection to my homelands. I started Acahkos Designs at my kitchen table in June 2021. I would have never have thought that I would be here now. My creations are all handmade in small batches. I am located within the Treaty 4 Territory in the beautiful Qu'Appelle Valley. I am originally from the Starblanket First Nation but I have since transferred to my husband's community and I am now a registered member of the Muscowpetung First Nation. I am an educator by day and I use my spare time (when I am not chasing after my kiddos or my fur baby) to craft, create, and bead.
Beading is a way to share my gifts and beauty with the world. It is a very therapeutic and healing process. All pieces are handmade with good intentions and healing energy. I believe my pieces will find the person that is meant to wear them. I am also open to sharing my beading techniques through workshops. Contact me for more information.
Kinanāskomitin. Thank you for taking the time to browse my creations and for supporting my small business.
